Hi everyone,

“There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too, have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it; I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate.”—Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Good morning! I love the determination in Estes’s words. The difference in our moods—from depression to elation— rests in the emotions we choose to entertain. We will all feel many emotions each day. But it is up to us to choose which ones we allow to sit down at the table in our mind. Do we let the critical voice have a chair? The cheerleader? The doubt? The happiness?

Your Turn:
Draw a circle with five seats around it. What are the dominant emotions, thoughts, or feelings in your mind right now? Write down each one in one of the “seats” of your drawing. Then, make a big chair on your drawing. That is where you are sitting. Can you see how those other seats reflect how you feel today?

Today’s Affirmation:
I only entertain empowering thoughts and emotions.
